Re: Tapes going unavailable for no apparent reason

Volumes become unavailable when TSM calls for a mount, and the mount cannot
be completed.
You have to go back and search your TSM activity log and find where the
update to access=unavailable occurred.
Check the messages for the previous 2-3 minutes; you will find a message of
some sort explaining why.

Subject: Tapes going unavailable for no apparent reason
Tsm server v5.1.9.0
Solaris v2.8
Ibm 3494 with 4 3590-b1a drives.
Almost daily, random volumes will be changed to access = unavailable.
When a q vol f=d is done, it is not in error state, and once I do an update
vol back to access=readw, all goes well.
So far, I have detected no pattern in which volumes are effected.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
