Do you use the 3583 only for TSM?
Did it work in the past?
If this is a one-time thing, power the library off and on again.
I've only had it happen once, and a power off fixed it.
If it continues and you are attached to a WINDOWS host, check to make sure
the Windows RSM service is disabled.
If not, disable it and reboot Windows.

The I/O station in our 3583 has become permanently locked meaning I have
to take the library offline and open the entire door to insert or remove
volumes. I have done a bit of research and have found this pdf:

Prevent: The Prevent bit indicates the following: 0 allows the opening
of the I/O station. 1 prevents the opening of the I/O station. This
field is applicable until a power-on reset or command reset is
performed, or until all initiators have issued an ALLOW MEDIUM REMOVAL
command by setting the Prevent field to 0.
Does anyone know:
a) How to check what the bit value currently is (presumably it is set
to: 1 at the moment)
b) What may have caused it and
c) How to set it back so I can start using the I/O station again.
