We use CommonStore for SAP archiving.
Currently, we use it with a old/outdated TSM server that we are desperately
trying to get off of. We are going
to migrate it to one of our existing TSM backup servers. Our plan is to
give it a very large disk pool (of
DISK type device) that is big enough to hold one years worth of data. We
will setup the pool to hold objects
in that pool for one year, then migrate them to tape. Of course, we will
have a tape copy pool for backup.
The current/old system puts everything into small disk pools which we
migrate daily. Almost all restores
require a tape mount. The plan is to satisfy restore speed for the vast
majority of restores via the large
DISK device pool, since most restores occur within the first year of the
data being archived. This will keep
us from having to dedicate tape drives for the archiving process.
Hope this helps.

"ADSM: Dist Stor
Manager"
Hello,
We are looking to integrate Common Store into our environment utilizing
Tivoli as our backend archive restore/retrieval process. What I would
like to know from any of you is, what other environments are doing?
In order to meet different sla's set for our environment, Is anyone
setting up a separate instance of TSM for content manager?
How do you parse out the Tape Library drives, slots?
Background Info.
Our 3584 Tape library due up on lease shortly, we are looking to expand
more tape drives, upgrading library to bring it up to a minimum of a 12
tape drive to increase our performance and capacity overall and to assist
for email archiving.
3584 TSM Server -Version 5.1.6.5, on AIX RS/6000

Lotus Notes TDP 5.1.5.0
