This was a policy issue, the policy wasn't activated, so it had only a
15 day retension.  I'm going to go smack my admin.  Thanks for the help.

How long ago did you rename the file space?

The inactive versions will be expired 35 days from the date they went
inactive. Renaming the file space doesn't change that. The only
difference
is that the *active* versions will hang around forever until you delete
the file space from the TSM server.

The problem is that I select to view the active / inactive files and all
I see is the active for that renamed file space.  The retention was
changed retain 5 version for 35 days, and the renamed space hasn't had a
backup written to it since it was created.  The renamed file space is
about the same size as the original space, so I would expect to see both
the active and inactive files.

If you use the TSM web client interface (or the regular backup/restore
GUI with the -virtualnodename flag), all filespaces avilable for a given
node are listed, and turning on the "view active and inactive files"
should allow you to see anything that available for restoration.
