How about in the dsm.opt:

COMPRESSION ON
exclude.compression */.../*
include.compression */.../dirtobecompressed/.../*

TSMer's

I have a remote Windows 2000 client that contains a large number of Images
that grow with compression and a large database dump that really needs to
be compressed.

I'm currently running the backup without compression because it never
completes with the images attempting to compress, and then growing, and
then just transferring at the non-compressed size anyway. But the backup
still takes forever (forever is 9 hours) because of the daily 1.8 Gb
database dump that really needs to be compressed. We only make our
backup window occasionally. It's only a 512K pipe, we've already doubled
it.

Can I somehow say don't compress anything except this one directory?
