Could someone at TSM let us know if this is a forward or a reverse lookup
issue. We had the problem and it was fixed with the DNSLOOKUP NO setting.

We too wanted to solve the problem without using the option. We couldn't find
any issues with DNS. All our clients are set in DNS with dynamic DNS. I'm not
sure if Dynamic DNS actually puts a reverse lookup entry in or not. Maybe that
was the problem.

Anyway, I agree with Richard that you want to do some research with DNS but I
was wondering if anyone has and if so what they found.

Thanks Dave,

I included DNSLOOKUP NO in my dsmserv.opt file an the performance problem is
solved.

TSM 5.2 added the ability to do DNS lookups in the Web
Administrator. We have had several customer PMRs report degraded
performance in the web administrator after upgrading to this release. If
you are experiencing this problem, then add the following line to your
dsmserv.opt file and then restart your TSM server:

DNSLOOKUP NO

Please re-post to the ADSM listserv if this does not fix your problem.
