It is in fact the same machine, just different instances. The DBA was logged
in as ORATEST when he did the backups, and again as ORATEST when he
attempted the restore. I made sure they were from the same userid as I saw
some documents on IBM about not being able to delete backup objects via RMAN
and it had to do with the OWNER of the objects. As a shot-in-the-dark, the
DBA added TDPO_OWNER ORATEST to the option file and the duplicate is now
working.

Strange!

Bill,

Most likely the problem is due to the fact that your target machine is not
configured correctly - that is, from a DP for Oracle point of view.
Generally, if you configure your target machine exactly as your source the
duplicate command should work without a hitch. My method for doing this is
to copy all the options files for DP Oracle (dsm.opt, dsm.sys, tdpo.opt)
from the source machine to the target machine.

The common misconception is that the duplicate command uses the
configuration setting from the source machine when in fact it comes from
the target machine. Hope this helps.

ANS1302E on TDP Oracle restore

TSM Server 5.2.2.1 on AIX 5.2
TSM Client 5.2.2.1 on Solaris V8
TSM For Databases Oracle 5.2.2.0
Oracle 8.1.7.4

I have a client trying to restore a database into a new instance using the
RMAN DUPLICATE command. The channel gets allocated, but then the command
fails with ANS1302E no objects match query. The object in question is on
the
server. If we login with "dsmc" and do a QUERY BACKUP on the Oracle
filespace, the objects show and as active.

Here's the RMAN error:
RMAN-10035: exception raised in RPC: ORA-19507: failed to retrieve

ORA-27029: skgfrtrv: sbtrestore returned error
ORA-19511: ANS1302E (RC2) No objects on server match query

and this is the output of the QUERY BACKUP:

My experience with RMAN is limited. Most DBA's run when you mention RMAN
to
them, so we haven't had much call for TDP Oracle.

Any help on this would be appreciated!
