Re: TDP for SQL Collocation

Typically databases are backed up as a few large files. In addition the entire
database is usually backed up together. Therefore the data will always be
together no a tape when running a restore. As a result it is a very common
practice not to collocate database data.
Don't forget that if you have to restore multiple databases at one time you may
have tape contention because more than one node will call for the same tape.
This is usually an acceptable risk when it comes to databases.
As always everyone's environment has different internal requirements so you
must determine if not collocating the data poses any risk to your organization.

Hi TSMers,
Can I disable collocation option on TDP for SQL storage pool? I have 15
clients with small amount of TDP backups and stored into different tapes
(10% average utilization) and we're running out of tapes on the library.
What is the impact if I disable the collocation? Still I should easily
restore the backups. Thanks for you help in advance.
