Planning new SAN
2004-01-22 05:37:55
Hi list,
i have a question about SAN design.
We plan to connect a 3584 with lto2 units in a disk-san environment . There are
enough ports
to connect all units.
But a cutomers describe a problem with tapeunits in one san (disk+tape). When he
create new zonings
or do changes in the san a "remote state change notification" for all components
is send.
When a backup is running on TSM the backup failes. The tapedrive becomes this
"rscn" and
do a "fabric_logoff" "fabric_logon" (not the right description) to update the
new san-configuration.
Have anybody seen or listen this problem ? Is that a real problem for mixed san
components (disk+tape) for TSM?
I have told ibm support for a answer but there are no recommandations to split a
san or create two fabrics one for
disk and one for tape devices.
Any idea
kind regards
