There was similar problem submitted to this list in the past but I cannot
recall for which version. As you are running basic unpatches v4.2.0 the
chances to have this fixed after upgrade to latest v4.2 maintenance (if
you cannot afford upgrade to v5.x) are high.
I have no time to dig the list archives or APAR database but you can. This
would reveal to you at which level the problem appeared and probably also
at which level it was resolved.

Hi

i wonder if anyone could possibly be of assistance to me regarding the
following:

firstly i am running TSM 4.2.0 on OS 390
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"
/>
The problem i am having only recently is that everytime a client node
polls the server the polled session remains as an idle session
indefinately.
This results in pages of idle sessions at any given time. eventually
actual backup sessions are refused and server response becomes incredibly
slow and at times TSM even abends.
the only way to get rid of the idle poll sessions is to cancel them
manually with a "can se" or cycle the server when it becomes too
deadlocked. this is a new problem as i have never had it before, in fact
previously client polls happen so fast you dont even see the session.(the
way it should be).

if anyone has had something like this or if nyone knows of anything i may
be able to do to fix this problem i would greatly appreciate it.
Also if you do reply to this please could you also copy your reply to me
personally off list at Nazeer.parak AT arivia.co DOT za as i may not receive it
otherwise.

thanks in advance.
