TSM Backup client Mac osX root passwd asked at client startup. how to
bypass?



I have installed TSM Backup client version 5.2.0.0 on a Macintosh osX v
10.2.5

to install the client the root password have been supplied. now, each time
I start TSM client the root passwd have to be provided to have application
run correctly. The node authentification (passwd generated )to the server
runs ok. Does anyone ran on this issue and have an idea to resolve it?

What currently seems to be the best way to run the Scheduler:
 - start System Preferences
 - select Start Objects (may be named slightly differently; i am
using a German version of MacOS X,  so I have to translate these
names back to English)
 - create an entry pointing to the Scheduler

This way, every time the corresponding user logs in, the Scheduler
gets started *without* prompting for the password.

To have the Scheduler running all the time:
 - in System Preferences, select the user pannel
 - select the current user and check to automatically login as the
selected user after system start

To have everyone authenticate themselves that access the system with
a password:
 - in the Screen Saver pannel of System Preferences, activate a
Screen Saver and check to ask for the user password to deactivate the
Screen Saver.

However, that does not leave much options regarding user
administration. I'd wish a way to have the scheduler started at every
system startup without user login (after all, thats what Apple
created the StartupItems folders in Library, System Library, ... for).

Regarding the standard backup client: versions for various Unix
systems allow normal users to run this peace of software in order to
backup and restore files for which they have appropriate access
rights.
