>From our (bad) experience with with TSM server at 5.1.6.2, and TSM
client at 5.1.6.7 on a Win2k3 system, you ***can't*** perform a disaster
recovery ! We had 2 opportunities testing that, using the same restore
procedure we're using for Win2k systems, and both of them finished with
BSOD. Maybe there is a trick to do it, but I didn't found it :-(
So, that far, we're in the same situation as yours : old AIX 4.3.3, and
no way to perform BMR for newest Windows systems ... The advice we had
from our Windows support team was to perform a system backup using
ntbackup, to a local file, and to backup that file using TSM : not an
elegant solution, but better than nothing !

In the TSM client manual for Windows 5.2 I found the following line:
Your Windows Server 2003 client must be connected to a Tivoli Storage
Manager Version 5.2.0 or higher server. (page 86)
Does this mean that Windows 2003 system state recovery doesn't work when
you are connected to a 5.1.7 server? This is a little bit unclear
because the 5.1.6 client readme files states that Windows 2003 is
supported, but the (probably older) 5.1 Windows - Backup-Archive Clients
Installation and User's Guide doesn't list Windows 2003 as a supported
platform and thus doesn't discuss system state recovery. We can't
upgrade to 5.2 because of our current AIX level... Thanks in advance for
