Both irrelevant and incorrect.

The question was about the server, not the client. In IBM Announcement
Letter ZP02-0494 (EMEA, find US/Canada equivalent) for ITSM v5.1.5 you can
find:
"Additional operating system support
...
AIX 5.2 support for the Tivoli Storage Manager server, LAN and LAN-free
backup-archive client (except HSM), Lotus Domino component of Tivoli
Storage Manager for Mail, and ESS for Oracle, and ESS for DB2 components
of Tivoli Storage Manager for Hardware
...
...
The Tivoli Storage Manager server on AIX requires the following hardware
and software:
...
Operating system - IBM AIX 4.3.3 (32-bit) or later or, IBM AIX 5.1 (32-bit
or 64-bit) or later"

Regarding the client - you can look at
ftp://service.boulder.ibm.com/storage/tivoli-storage-management/maintenance/client/v5r1/AIX/AIX64bit/v516/IP22651.README.AIX51.
"All TSM packages require following operating system level and components
...
or
AIX 5L 5.2 PPC"

Bottom line: You can use both TSM server and client in 64-bit mode on AIX
5.2 if you are at or beyond particular maintenance level. In fact the
client is supported *only* in 64-bit mode on AIX 5.2 according to the same
Announcement Letter!

If you send an email to aixserv AT austin.ibm DOT com with the subject of
"52_Install_Tips", the following information is part of the email:

 TSM 5.1 Not Supported on AIX 5.2

Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) 5.1 is not compatible with AIX 5.2 and will
cause a system crash if installed. TSM 5.1 is shipped in error on the AIX
5L
for POWER V5.2 Bonus Pack (LCD4-1141-00) dated 10/2002, and should not be
installed.

Once TSM 5.1 is installed on AIX 5.2, the system will crash on every
reboot.
To recover from this situation, the system will have to be booted in
maintenance mode from the AIX 5.2 installation media or a system backup
(mksysb) to uninstall the tivoli.tsm.* filesets. Alternatively, the
following line can be uncommented in /etc/inittab by inserting a ':'
(colon)
at the beginning of the line.

     adsmsmext:2:wait:/etc/rc.adsmhsm > /dev/console

1. Will that combination work?

2. Is that a supported combination? Or is only TSM 5.2 server on AIX 5.2
   supported?

The docs I've seen to date hasn't directly addressed TSM 5.1 server on AIX
5.2 64 bit, and I don't have a spare 64-bit 5.2 machine to test with at
the
moment. (Got plenty of 32-bit 5.2 machines; verified the client works
fine)
