I found an IBM document that addresses exactly this sort of issue at:

http://www.storage.ibm.com/tape/conntrix/pdf/3590_isv_matrix.pdf

This has a table for each of a number of products, including TSM.
Each table has a row for each of a number of platforms the product
runs on and a column for each of three 3590 models. Each cell
contains a list of supported attachment methods. The bad news is that
the table for TSM has no rows for any sort of Linux server. The good
news, in an odd sort of way, is that the same table has no rows for
OS/390 or z/OS. This is good news in the sense that it seriously
diminishes the credibility of the bad news.
