We are researching on getting a big disk array we want to use in tsm as
a virt. library.
So we define this disk array as a filetype library and use it to backup
the clients. Then we  make a copy storage pool using a normal tape
library and take these tapes off site.
We have a  pretty small environment and backup (inc.) around 50 gigs a
day. The total size of this backup pool would be 4 tb.
Is anyone using this kind  setup and what issue's did you bump into?
Now the real question:
We also do db2 backups. These are around 1 tb in size every night ( the
sizes of the db's are around 40 to 400 gigs).
I can't seem to figure out how i could use the disk array to speed up
the db2 backups. I could of course backup to the file-library but then i
would need to move this data to tape. (otherwise the disk array would
fill up pretty quickly and i want to have this data off site)
This would end up with a migration process and this would mean i can
only use one drive per node which is not fast enough for us. (for backup
it would be ok but the restore time would take to long).
This would leave me backing up directly to tape since this would allow
the use of 2 drives. (and is what we are doing at the moment)
Are there any other ways to use the file-library for the db2 backups?
Or am i'm missing something? Any suggestions are welcome.
(note that the raid array is not a nas device)
