Re: can't see new volume in the volume Inventory list

It sounds like your checkin did not work.  Where were the tapes when you
did the checkin?  In the library or in the i/o station?  Did you get a
message like "ANR8431I CHECKIN LIBVOLUME process completed for library
3494; 82 volume(s) found."  (Do a "q actlog msgno=8431 begind=-3")  If
tsm thinks the tape is in the library, it should show up in a "q
libvol".  You might also want to do a "audit library".

A volume does not have to be physical present to be defined to a
storage pool.  That's why your def vol worked.  And it then showed empty
because it was now defined as a private vol that had nothing on it.

I just added new scratch tapes to the 3583 library using the following
command "checkin libvolume ltolib search=yes status=scratch
checklabel=barcode".   Tapes checkin went OK with no error but I can't
seem to see the new volume in the volume inventory list.  Then I try
to
define one of the volume to offsite_tapepool  and still didn't show up
in
the volume inventory list however  it showed up when I used q vol
command
with the volume status empty rather than scratch or private.

Can someone please explain to me why is this happening or give me
direction how to fix this.  I have read the TSM Administrator's Guide
book
on this topic but couldn't find any solutions for my problems.

Please Help!!!!
