Rule of thumb: you can't restore one platform's files onto another
platform's filesystems, unless the target OS specifically (and natively)
supports the filesystem used by the source machine. (IOW, you can't
restore NetWare files onto a Windows box's mapped drive to a NetWare
machine. Ditto with NFS-shared filesystems from UNIX to Windows.)

For example, Linux boxes can read and write FAT and FAT32 filesystems.
You could therefore restore a Win95 or Win98 file onto a FAT32 partition
on a Linux box.

I can just about guarantee that if the source filesystem is
Windows-based, you won't be able to write it anywhere except to another
Windows box.

Other than that, you're just going to have to crack open the appropriate
documentation (including the appropriate TSM client docs) and read about
the filesystems you're dealing with.
