Thomas,
If you have only one TSM server, be it W2K or UNIX, sharing with the
mainframe, then you'll need to:
1. define that server as a host on the 3494 library controller
2. define the library on the TSM server as LIBT=349X SHARED=YES
3. define a 3590 device class
4. define a path to each drive in the library

On W2K, you'll need the ibmatl.exe to be running on the TSM server to see
the drives. Be sure that your scratch categories are different from the
mainframe applications.

Hi everybody,

I'm asking this for a collegue therefore I'm a bit vague ...

Does anyone share a 3494 library between the open world (W2K or UNIX with
TSM) and a mainframe (VM/ESA)?
If this is technically possible what kind of hardware (3590 controller ...),
software or organisational tasks (tape ranges ...) is required?
Is there any kind of documentation available on the net?

Thanks in advance for any information!

Kind regards and greetings from Austria
