Yes you need to upgrade your drives to at least E1A's. Not sure of the data
storage figures.... I upgraded to E1A's a year or 2 ago....

Hi all TSMers
Can those of you who use the IBM 3590 tape drives please answer the
following for me.
To use the extended tapes, do I need to upgrade my B1A model drives?
Also, to my knowledge, data storage figures are as follows:-
B1A E1A H1A
Cartridge Capacity Native
(GB) 10 20 30 Cartridge
Capacity Compressed
(GB) 30 60 90 Extended Cartridge
Capacity
(GB) 20 40 60 Extended Cartridge
Compressed
(GB) 60 120 180 Data Transfer Rates
9MB/sec 14MB/sec 14MB/sec
Do I have my facts right?
Thanks
