This is more complex than starting the software and completing a restore. We
tested quite few different recovery methods before deciding on a multiple
server restore environment. It can get even more complex if you are using
active directory.

But for the sake of at least starting you off.
If only restoring the IS. Single or Multiple mailbox recovery from IS.

step 1: Build another exchange server with the same OS level, SP level,
exchange level and exchange SP level as the one to be restored and the same
TSM client.

Step 2: When configuring the Exchange server it has to be set up as
a new site, you can not join your existing site when restoring mailboxes to
a different server.

Step 3: Restore IS.

Step 4: Export mailbox or mailboxes as PST files then import to your current
site.

If trying to restore the IS and DS.

Step 1: Build another exchange server with the same OS level, SP level,
exchange level and exchange SP level as the one to be restored.

Step 2: The Exchange server has to be configure identical to the original;
same name, same site, same group names. Otherwise the DS may not start. With
this in mind the restored Exchange server can not be on the same network as
the original.

If AD is involved it can be even more complicated. The first couple of full
server recovery tests wrecked our AD/E2K test environment.

We have setup an Exchange 2000 server and running TSM Exchange 2.2 TDP....
We are doing a full backup on a daily basis....I would like to restore one
of the backups.

Does anyone have a good documentation on this.

Thanks
