Paul, I read what you wrote up and that is great, but have you ever
tried defining the stgpools on your disk subsystem as RAID 0 to compare
the difference between RAID 0 and RAID 5. It is just curiosity, since
all of mine have always performed better with RAID 0.

It is not clear to me what model of disk subsystem you were using from
the note.

Check the archives for the recent thread with subject "Limitation of
TSM DB Volumes" - stripes and mirrors are fine for the DB, so long
as you keep the number of DB volumes high enough.

Also, check out <http://msgs2.adsm.org/cgi-bin/get/adsm0303/285/1.html>
for my experience running RAID5 disk storage pool volumes, using
software
RAID5. It is possible, just have to be careful with stripe sizes.
Likewise,
you need to keep the number of volumes high enough to keep the disks
busy.
