You can even test-migrate before real migration using FROMSQLSERVer
option. This might make your DBAs happier and increase their confidence.

Subject: Using TSM to move an SQL database

Our local DBA's are migrating to bigger and better hardware. They are
looking at different options to move the databases to the new machine. The
question was posed to me like this:

We are looking at different options of how to move all the SQL Server DBs
to
the new box including the over 90GB ADW database on GBNDB07. Do you know
if
we backup ADW on the current GBNDB07, then perform a restore on the new
GBNDB07 server??

I'll be the first to admit that I just don't know enough about SQL to
understand all of supporting SQL pieces and if they will allow this. We
currently run full SQL backups on the box mentioned.

Thoughts from some of the more SQL savvy folks on the list??
