In my experience, and that is supported by logic, spreading a TSM database
acros a large number of phisical volumes increases the database throughput.
Separating the db volumes from the log volumes halps yet another bit. In
short: more disks is better. We currently have out db split across 4 volumes
(each a hardware raid1) and a seperate volume for the log, and are quite
pleased with the performance.
