Yes, that is possible. I have done that myself, as a bonus during a DR
test. One caveat: you need to know on which tape the latest dbbackup is, of
course.
If you don't know, you could try each tape, but that would be a very
lengthy process I presume.

Yes; the dsmserv command doesn't ask for a password. Since passwords are
stored in the database, this is logical: when restoring, there is no
database to get the usernames and passwords from.

Don't know that, sorry. I presume this would be difficult though. TSM
itself has a hard time reading tapes without the accompanying database.
