Simple question but must be asked, are the tapes in the library?  If so I
would expect to see the home element with a value.  Also try to enter "query
vol XXXXXX f=d' and see what the tapes access state is.  Just some
ideas...........

I use TSM 4.2.3 on AIX 4.3.3
and so many tapes are in status "private", but they aren't in a storage
pools.
No DRM is running,
