FIRST THANKS!!

How large are the journal db files (named like *jdb*)?
Between 1k & over 2 Gig

I am using NAV 7.60 & made the registry change

Also I added the PreserveDbOnExit=1 per the readme!

Do I need to restart any services?

Bruce,

The *first* time you run a backup after enabling the journal service, you
will still see a regular full incremental backup performed. This is done to
synchronize the journal database with the TSM server database. Thereafter
the backups should use the journaled backup method, unless the journal db
and server db become out of sync (for more info, see the PreserveDbOnExit
option in the client manual appendix on configuring the journal service).

How large are the journal db files (named like *jdb*)?

Also, what antivirus program are you running? See the README file that
accompanies the client for information and recommended settings that may be
pertinent; see the bullet that starts with this line:

    - Known problems with anti-virus software

While the README file talks about NAV, other antivirus products may behave
in a similar fashion.

I installed the Journal Service on a Win 2k SP2 server (for the E drive)
with TSM client 5.1.5.9. My TSM server is at 5.1.1.6 on AIX 4.3.3. Once this
is installed should it still show these messages in the dsmsched.log?

To me it looks like it is still scanning the file system for files to
backup! I installed it using the setup wizard & only selected this one file
system. I received this error in the jbberror.log the first night after
installing the service but none since.
