Refer to your AIX documentation
(http://publib16.boulder.ibm.com/pseries/en_US/infocenter/base/aix43.htm ,
etc.).  Gigabit ethernet is sometimes known as "MTU 9000".  Per AIX doc:
Increase MTU size for the network interfaces. For the Gigabit Ethernet adapter
use the device attribute jumbo_frames=yes to enable jumbo frames (just setting
MTU to 9000 on the interface is not enough).
