Nancy,
APAR IC27346 has a pretty good discussion on this, and many of the path
length limitations were resolved in 4.1 (and up). Here is a link to an old

Note that the above item refers to the USEUNICODEFILENAMES setting, which
is no longer relevant in 4.2 and 5.1.

Subject: path length?
I have a TSM v4.1 Windows client that is getting ANS4018E and ANS1228E
errors because of really long paths. Can anyone tell me what the limit is?
I have searched the manuals and I'm guessing 256, but I would like to
confirm that. Can the limit be changed? (I'm guessing no.) And, would a
later version of the client change the limit?
