Hello Smer's
Can anyone tell me about backing up raw logical volumes with Image
Backup on the 4.2 and above clients? Can you specify a particular
file/database/ or whatever, OR do you have to back up all as in a
backupset? And, if so, where can I get some info. on all this?
Thanks again in advance

Per my correspondence with Tivoli Support a normal incremental backup will
not backup a raw logical volume. However, there is an Image Backup that can

I had read about the logical volume backup on the web but I'm not wanting
to do a special backup. Currently, we backup all our filesystems with a
nightly incr backup. Due to an oracle problem we want to change one of the
filesystems to be a raw device and I just want to ensure our night backup
will pick up the raw device.

Deborah,
The backup of raw logical volume can be taken by running dsmc incremental
/file_system name or can run dsmc backup image /dev/lv01 to backup
/dev/lv01 logical volume.
You can find additional information on backing up the raw logical volume in
the TSM Backup/Archive Client documentation. Here is part of that
information.
