Unless you specify a mgt class for DIRMC, it by design is bound to the
mgt class/copy group in that Domain with the longest retention period
as defined in the copy group.  In other words, higher than anything
else in that Policy Domain's Active Policy Set.

That's a quick answer, condensed from manual  "TSM Installing the
Clients" and the section for the DIRMC processing option.

Can someone clarify Edgardo's response.  Particularly, "when you set up 
"NTWCLASS" with a higher retention number of versions".  Higher than what?  Is 
this by design?  I also have ONLY directory
structures going to mgmtclasses that I would not suspect.  thx.  -joe-
