Hello fellow ##SMERS

Running TSM 3.7.3.8 Server on Solaris 2.7 Box (E250 450Mhz 1GB)

In the coming months, it looks very likely that we are going to be getting
some sort of SAN that will initially just be directly connected to one of
our machines (an over-priced array for a while then!), and in the future be
connected via a SAN switching device to act as a proper Storage Area
Network. Whilst I know that this is a broad subject, I am interested in
anyone's personal experiences with this.

What questions should I be asking myself in order to get the most out of a
SAN and what it can offer. For example, I hear the term Flash Copy quite
often. I assume that I could make image backups of an entire system very
quickly this way thus providing for some very fast restore times. This is
just one thing that I would be interested in understanding.

So basically, any people out there who has had good/bad SAN / TSM
experiences; I would like to hear from you.

Thanks very much
