Re: Restoring files from one client to another

Hi
First of all, you'll have to temporary install a tsm client for node FRED.
This can be done on any machine. Second, you will have to grant access to
other nodes to access FRED:s data. Then you can open those nodes TSM
client, and select Access Another User. Type in FRED, and you'll be able to
restore files from FRED.
The second option is to change another machines NODENAME option(in dsm.opt)
to FRED, and log on with FRED:s password. This way, you'll be able to
restore files from FRED to another machine.
If you use the second option, be sure not to do a backup. This will start
expiration of FRED:s files, as they no longer exist on the system you're on
.

Hi TSMers
Until recently we have been backing up a machine that we'll call FRED. The
applications on that machine has been slowly migrated to another box and we
have been able to re-use FRED for another purpose. However, we are keeping
the data that has been backed up for Fred in case the origional box needs
to be re-built or the data is required.
Here is my question.
Baring in mind that the machine FRED no longer exists. is there a way to
restore files backed up from Fred to another client node should the need
arrise.
We are running TSM server 3.7.3.8 on a Sun Solaris 2.7 machine. Clients in
question are all 3.7.2.0.
Many thanks in advance for any help given
