Hi Lindy,
What you would like to do is not that very difficult. Like Jason
Barkes said;
make a mksysb to a local filesystem and backup/archive is to TSM. We
do it like that, but we use NIM to restore a MKSYSB over the network.
An other option is mkcd, which is included in AIX 4.3.3.
With this u can put a ksysb directly on a cd, even span multiple
volumes.
The cd can also be made bootable. Take a look here:
