So you would have to bring them back.  That would mean they aren't off-site
so if you had a disaster you would lose your tapes!

Perhaps other less robust products do this, but TSM actually works exactly
the way you would like.  It is even smarter.  Since TSM is file based rather
than tape it will reclaim many copy stgpool volumes simultaneously.  This
minimizes the number of tape mounts requried.

If you reclaim your pools correctly, this feature does not result in gross
inefficiencies.  It actually makes this type of operation more efficient.
