Is there currently a way to back up these filesystems? If not, does
anyone have any idea when they might be supported?

On my laptop (a RedHat 7.2 testbed) I installed ext3 as the main
filesystem. When I bring up the client, all I see is my C: windows
drive. None of my ext3 filesystems exist, as far as the linux BA
Client is concerned.
