Joachim,
we tried this today on a very old Linux client (3.1.0.1) and the
ümläüt-test worked fine, no skips.
In our optfile there was no language set, the environment had "RC_LANG"
set to "german".
Try to set the language in the optfile to english (LANG AMENG) or
another value.
