Since I installed 4.2.1 I see my expiration of old db backups and the
pending volumes has not been happening automatically. Yesterdays database
snapshot did this:

10/23/01 14:04:44 ANR0984I Process 158 for DATABASE BACKUP started in
the
                       BACKGROUND at 14:04:44.

10/23/01 14:04:44 ANR2287I Snapshot database backup started as process
158.
10/23/01 14:04:44 ANR2753I (DB_SNAPSHOT):ANR2287I Snapshot database
backup
                       started as

10/23/01 14:04:48 ANR4578E Database backup/restore terminated - required

                       volume was not mounted.

10/23/01 14:04:48 ANR0985I Process 158 for DATABASE BACKUP running in
the
BACKGROUND completed with completion state FAILURE at

                       14:04:48.
All the drives were busy but I thought this should have bumped something.
This tape and drive problem is really pissing me off you could say. This is
absolutely ridiculous that this most important part of TSM does not even
work.

DRM is set to keep 4 days worth of backups and tapes. For whatever reason
this does not seem to be working any more. Last week I changed it from 5
days to 4 days and that seems to kick things loose but since then the
pending tapes have only multiplied.

Sorry for the anger, but Tivoli's complacent attitude on all of this makes
no sense to me.
