Well, couldn't you checkout the tape using the remove=no option, and then
open the library up and physically remove the tape from the slot the
return from the command will identify when it successfully checks it out?
Or is a 3683 sufficiently different from 3494 & 3575s that this won't
work?

Subject: New 3583 - I/O slots?
We just added a 3583-L72 to our TSM system. The "L72" means it uses the
12-slot I/O station. Since this is a primary online library, I don't
expect to handle tapes except in cases of media failure.
The library can be configured to use those 12 slots as storage instead of
I/O. According to the manual, that yields zero I/O slots. So, if I have
a
tape go bad, how do I remove it USING TSM? Any library front panel
operations that move tapes requires a library audit because TSM would no
longer be in sync with the library inventory.
TSM 4.1.4.1 on AIX 4.3.3.
