Perusing the 4.2 client manual to learn of new functionality (worth doing from
time to time) I was amused to find the new client option "V2archive", which
makes Archive perform the same way it did in ADSM version 2, which is to say
that it will only archive files, and not directories. And you thought old ADSM
techniques had nothing to offer us now!

This option is of particular value for sites where Archiving is heavily
performed, specifying subdirectory trees, but where Retrieval involves just
bringing back individual files. (Otherwise, doing a Retrieve on a subdirectory
tree structure where the original subdirectories no longer exist will force
Retrieve to construct surrogate directories to emplace the original structure of
the file collection.) Not storing directories will certainly lessen the load on
your server, including Expiration. Worth considering.
