Session won't cancel

I have a user's backup session that refuses to be cancelled. I'm running AIX
4.3.2 and TSM 3.72. The error message is:  ANR0444W Protocol error on
session 28717 for node
  XXXXX (WinNT) - out-of-sequence verb (type (Unknown))
  received.

I can't cancel the session via GUI or command line. Has anyone seen this
before and know the cause and fix(other than halting and recycling the
system).
