if you use exclude /tmp/ TSM will backup all the files that reside in tmp 
filespace including
subdirectories
if you use exclude /tmp/* willn't backup files in tmp but will backup files in 
subdirectories
if you use exclude /tmp/.../*  no files and subdir's will have backuped

option
  exclude /tmp/
vs.
   exclude /tmp/*
