I have run into similar errors attempting to recover Linux systems with
a minimal TSM client installation accessed using NFS. The 3.1 client
dsmc command needed two options files and a message file, but was
self-contained as far as executable code went. When I switched to the
3.7 client I started getting messages about missing shared libraries.
I was able to get rid of these messages by copying the libraries from
a functioning Linux system to my NFS directory. I wouldn't be surprised
if the Solaris client also switched from static linking to using
shared libraries.
