Cameron

You are right effectively some data has expired.
the tape was being filled with an aggregate, i.e a bunch of files that are
stored as one unit.
As the aggregate couldn't fit on the tape, it was logically expired and then
placed on the next tape

Yes :-)

big snip

Looking at this, what confused me, and I hope someone can accurately
answer is the following:

SAP003 PROD_TAPE_- 3590DEV2 35,803.7 98.6
Filling

The estimated capacity for the devclass is 30 gig, the tape is still
filling, but showing a % utilized of 98.6. I thought that it should show
100% utilized as soon as it reached the estimated capacity, but still be
'filling' until it reached the end of the tape.

Could it be that some data has already expired from this tape since it was
last written to? Do I misunderstand the 100% reflection?

Thanks,
Cameron.
