The TSM client for Open Edition MVS only backs up the MVS Open Edition file
system, also called an HFS file system.
These are UNIX-style file systems with a UNIX-type directory structure that
can coexist on MVS with the standard MVS file systems.

You can't use TSM to back up standard/legacy type MVS file systems.

Even if your customer is running an "Open Edition" version of MVS, most
likely a LOT of the system is still using standard MVS file systems, and
will have to be backed up using an MVS-type dump/restore program.

I suggest you talk to your customer again and verify what data he is
concerned about...
