I believe that the change came from Microsoft and with the Windows
backup command which is now owned by Veritas (was Seagate ...).
It appears that Microsoft wants a full backup of the various system
files and data bases. They want the sysfiles (includes ntldr...)
and the registry files, and the active directory, cert files, etc
to all be backed up as a unit.
TSM does not backup them up as a unit, except within the gui when you
click on the system object. But with the line mode command you can
issue a backup xxxx command for each system part and the server
at 3.7.2 or better has a new feature to track the parts as a unit.

It appears that the TSM dev staff is going to make this job
a little simpler for us and have some way to handle these parts
as a unit.

Mike can you post here what the new function will look like before
it is cast in concrete?
