If the backupset has been deleted and the entry is still in the volume
history, then that is a bug.  You should check and see if there is an apar
open for this problem.

We have the same problem with the retension parameter. The feature seems
not
to work as expected.
Since we used only backupsets on DASD's we had no problems with tapes...
Our environment : TSM 3.7.3.6 on MVS
