Subject: Re: Auto-negotiate setting for NIC's

I should further qualify my posting about exploiting the 'spray' command
in performing network performance tests to say that it is possible to use
it where the destination system does not have a sprayd daemon running,
by using the -i option to instead send ICMP echo packets (as ping does).
In this case, specify a maximal packet size of -l 2082 to better gauge
performance. You must be root to use the -i option.

Example:

  spray targethost -i -l 2082
sending 48 packets of lnth 2082 to targethost ...

15 packets (31.250%) dropped by targethost
          2948 packets/sec, 6139706 bytes/sec
