        [Prather, Wanda]  Several things can cause this error.  What version
is your client code?
        This can be caused if there is not enough space on the disk to
create the adsm.sys directory, or if the user who is doing the backup
doesn't have the priveleges needed to create the adsm.sys directory.  There
are also a few other obscure causes, depending on the client level.

        [Prather, Wanda]  The user running the backup doesn't have access to
the root of D$.  If the scheduler is running the backup, you have to give
the SYSTEM id (or whatever id the scheduler is running under) access to the
root of D$.  If D$ is a mapped network drive, there is a whole other can of
worms to discuss...
