Hi,

My site is in the process of doing a new install
of TSM on a new RS/6000 SP system.

The version of TSM that IBM ordered & shipped with
the system is 3.7, not 4.1.

Did TSM V4.1 come out very recently, like in the
past 30 days? If so, does anyone know if there's
a free upgrade path from 3.7 to 4.1?

Also, we are planning on using the HSM (Space Management)
client to migrate data in a 700GB filesystem to/from
an IBM 3494 library (equipped with 3590-E1A drives).

Would love to hear about experiences (good or bad)
with the HSM client from people who are using it in
an environment similar to ours (large-scale scientific/
technical computing).

Our environment:

  .  IBM RS/6000 SP (40 WinterHawk2 Thin nodes, 2 WinterHawk2 Wide nodes;
each with 2GB RAM, 4 CPUs, 2 18GB internal disks)

. IBM 3494 Tape Library (with 4 Ultra SCSI Wide 3590-E1A drives; current
cartridge capacity of up to 45TB)

  . 1.4TB of SSA Disk (3 7133-D40 SSA drawers, 40 36GB disks; on multiple
     SSA loops)

  . AIX 4.3.3

  . PSSP 3.1.1

. TSM 3.7 (all components, except HSM: which for some reason is still
     at 3.1)

Thanks,

 - Lee
