Hi All,

Sorry if this is a repost, it doesn't appear to have made it on the
list.

Hi Susan,
Hi Susan,

Have you labeled the tapes you want to checkin? If not, you can label
them and check them in all in one step.

Cancel the checkin libvolume processes that are running and try:
label libv 3575lib search=bulk labelsource=barcode checkin
={scratch, private}  overwrite={yes,no}

This will take all of the tapes in your I/O port, label them with the
same name as is on the barcode, and check them in. You'll need to
choose if they should be scratch or private. Also, I like to set
overwrite=yes to try to catch bad tapes at the get-go. That's saved
me some headache a couple of times.

We also have a 3575 library, and I've noticed some strangeness when
labeling volumes. Here's what happens:

1) Checkout a volume and send it to the I/O bin.
2) Open the I/O bin and remove the volume(s).
3) Without closing the I/O bin, load the volumes to check in.
4) Close the I/O bin.
5) Enter the "label libv 3575lib search=bulk labelsource=barcode
checkin=scratch overwrite=yes" command and send the "reply xxx"
command.
6) The volume(s) mount as they should be, are checked in as scratch,
just as they should be, but........they are labeled with the name(s)
of the volumes that had just previously been checked out instead of
with their own barcodes.

I've found that just by closing the I/O bin after removing the checked
out volumes, I don't get this problem.

Hope this helps!

I am trying to checkin new tapes into my library. I have checked out
10
tapes and want to checkin 10 scratch tapes. When I type in the
"checkin libv
3575lib 09527B' my request for a reply tells me to remove 3570. Where
did
the 3570 come from?? Do I need to do a "define volume" first?? please
help
me.
